As a member of Kate Mosh and Seidenmatt, Sebastian Cleemann tried shapes of indie rock. He released other people’s music through the Sinnbus label. He loves playing live, he loves playing alone.
“Don’t Forget Me, Petula! Don’t Forget Everything, Petula!” is his second album. Song by song, it explores different takes on oblivion, searching for reasons, opting for surrender, disappearing and awakening within it. It keeps forgetting and discovering, it whirs and sighs and rumbles like there is no other music.
The one-man band has made and played and sung and recorded this music in company, helped and directed by Oliver Stangl (Clickclickdecker, Fink, Missouri). They found a cozy place in Germany’s Ore Mountains, moved there for a week, painted songs at night and woke up to find new ideas to record while still in their pajamas. They got serious and they got wacky in all the right places. They captured the sound of being lost in thought.
“Don’t Forget Me, Petula! Don’t Forget Everything, Petula!“ is a little monument, a testament to an arrival and at the same time a blueprint of the gigantic, infinite, confident feeling of doubt that defines this band – always ready to get torn apart between worries and devotion.
